Is it expensive to insure a Mazda?

Mazdas are moderately expensive to insure when compared to other car manufacturers. Other non-luxury brands like Toyota and Honda tend to cost around $2,000 per year to insure, while the typical price to insure a Mazda is approximately $3,000.

On the other hand, Mazdas are much cheaper to insure than high-end luxury vehicles from manufacturers like Lexus, Mercedes and BMW. The typical price to insure these vehicles is often $4,000 per year or more, depending on the model.

In general, cars are costlier to insure when they are smaller, faster and more expensive. A smaller, faster car is more likely to be involved in a crash, and expensive cars cost more to fix, resulting in higher insurance rates. However, the latter aspect is sometimes offset by improved safety features, such as obstacle avoidance sensors, so the connection is not always linear.
