Why it's great
Impressive customer service and solid discounts make Nationwide the top choice in New Hampshire.
We recommend Nationwide as your best bet for motorcycle insurance in New Hampshire. It's the top-rated insurer for customer service in New Hampshire, receiving about half as many complaints as would normally be expected for an insurer of its size.
Additionally, Nationwide boasts the second-cheapest rates in the state, charging $426 per year on average. Customers can also take advantage of its many discount opportunities to get their rates down even lower. Available discounts include:
- Multipolicy, for drivers who also purchase home, vehicle or life insurance from Nationwide
- Multivehicle, for policyholders who also insure a vehicle, boat, all-terrain vehicle (ATV), snowmobile or scooter
- Motorcycle safety course, if you complete a safety course approved by Nationwide
- Theft-recovery device, enabling you to earn a discount on comprehensive if your motorcycle has a radio or GPS theft-recovery system
- Homeowner, for those who own a home, condo, mobile home or townhouse — even if you don't insure it with Nationwide
- Paid in full, for policyholders who pay their entire premium up front
- Anti-lock brakes, for riders who have anti-lock brakes installed
- Riding association, for members of a riding association like the Harley Owners Group
Another benefit of insuring your car with Nationwide is the wide number of coverages the company offers. Some helpful add-on coverages include:
- Custom equipment, which covers damage to any additional equipment you've installed on your vehicle
- Roadside assistance and trip interruption, which pays for expenses that result from an interrupted trip more than 100 miles away from your home
- Original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts coverage, which guarantees that repairs to your motorcycle are done with equipment made by the original manufacturer

Why it's great
Geico offers the most affordable rates to motorcyclists in New Hampshire.
If finding the cheapest coverage is your top priority, get a quote from Geico. Geico charges New Hampshire riders just $350 per year for full coverage. That's 45% less than the state average.
Geico also has a solid customer service reputation. Its score from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is 0.67 — only slightly higher than Nationwide's — which shows that it receives complaints very infrequently.
However, Geico offers fewer add-on coverage options than Nationwide. If add-ons like trip interruption or OEM parts coverage are important to you, we recommend going with Nationwide instead.
Best for daily riders: Allstate

Why it's great
Allstate offers rental reimbursement coverage — a helpful add-on for daily riders.
Daily riders should consider Allstate so they can purchase rental reimbursement coverage and roadside assistance. If you use your motorcycle for your daily commute, we recommend paying for these extra coverages. That way, you know that if you get in an accident, you'll get the support you need, including coverage for a substitute vehicle while your bike receives repairs.
Plus, Allstate has excellent customer service. It scored a 0.63 on the NAIC complaint index, which means it receives about one-third fewer complaints than average for its size. If you decide to go with Allstate, you can expect responsive customer service.
The only downside of choosing Allstate is that it charges above-average rates. At $826 per year, Allstate's average rate is about 30% more expensive than the New Hampshire state average. That said, Allstate is 16% cheaper than Dairyland, the only other insurer in our study to offer rental reimbursement coverage. If rental reimbursement is important to you, Allstate is your best bet.
Best-rated New Hampshire motorcycle insurers
It's important to consider customer service as well as rates when selecting an insurer. Nationwide has the best customer service ratings of the insurers in our study. According to NAIC data, Nationwide receives about half as many complaints as would be expected for an insurer of its size.
Insurer | NAIC complaint index | AM Best rating |
---|---|---|
Allstate | 0.63 | A+ |
Dairyland | 2.69 | A+ |
Geico | 0.67 | A++ |
Nationwide | 0.53 | A+ |
Progressive | 0.69 | A+ |
USAA | 0.85 | A++ |
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) complaint index scores companies based on how many complaints they receive relative to their size. Companies with an average number of motorcycle and car insurance complaints for their size receive a score of 1.0, companies with an above-average number of complaints score above 1.0, and companies with fewer complaints than average score below 1.0.
Dairyland is the only insurer in our study that received more complaints than average for its size, so we recommend choosing another company instead of Dairyland for your motorcycle insurance. Its NAIC complaint index score of 2.69 shows that it received more than twice as many complaints as expected for its size.
Fortunately, all of the insurers in this study can be relied upon to pay out claims. AM Best rates companies on their financial strength, and the A+ and A++ ratings received by the insurers in this study mean that they have a "superior" ability to pay out claims, according to AM Best.
