Capital One transfer partners
There are now 18 Capital One travel partners to provide cardholders with maximum flexibility when redeeming their miles. You can choose from 14 airlines and four hotel loyalty programs depending on where you want to travel, award availability and travel preferences. While most partners transfer on a 1:1 basis, not all of them do.
With the introduction of Virgin Red in March 2022, 16 out of 18 Capital One Venture transfer partners have a 1:1 ratio.
Some of the airline partners below also belong to other transfer programs, like Chase Ultimate Rewards®, American Express Membership Rewards and Citi ThankYou Points. When you transfer points from these programs into your airline loyalty account, they'll combine with your transfers from Capital One miles to accelerate your ability to book award travel.
Current list of Capital One airline partners
There are 14 Capital One airline partners and all three airline alliances are represented. This means that even if your favorite airline isn’t one of Capital One’s travel partners, you can still transfer to one of its alliance partners to book a flight.
In addition, Emirates and Etihad are also available. And although these two airlines aren’t members of any of the major alliances, each one partners with many other airlines to earn and redeem miles.
Partner | Airline Alliance | Transfer Ratio |
---|---|---|
Aeromexico Club Premier | SkyTeam | 1 : 1 |
Air Canada Aeroplan | Star Alliance | 1 : 1 |
Asia Miles (Cathay Pacific) | oneworld | 1 : 1 |
Avianca LifeMiles | Star Alliance | 1 : 1 |
British Airways Executive Club | oneworld | 1 : 1 |
Current list of Capital One hotel partners
With the addition of Virgin Red, there are now four hotels eligible for Capital One points transfers.
Partner | Transfer ratio |

ALL - Accor Live Limitless | 1000 : 500 |
Choice Privileges | 1 : 1 |

*Capital One announced on March 1, 2022, that Virgin Red is being added as a hotel transfer partner in the coming weeks. The bank is the first to partner with the new loyalty program for the Virgin family of brands.
Transfer bonus promotions
Capital One periodically offers transfer bonuses to participating loyalty programs. These transfer bonuses are for a limited time. The bonuses available in March 2022 were:

The best Capital One travel partners
Avianca LifeMiles
- Home Country: Colombia
- Major hubs: Bogota, San Salvador
- Airline alliance: Star Alliance
Avianca LifeMiles provides an excellent path to flying international premium cabin flights for a good price with its Star Alliance partner airlines. For example, you can fly to Europe in Swiss Air Business Class or United Polaris for just 63,000 miles each way. Plus, the best feature here is that you won't pay the high fuel surcharges or taxes that some other airlines charge when redeeming miles for international travel.
British Airways
- Home Country: England
- Major hubs: Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, London City Airport
- Airline alliance: oneworld
British Airways is a valuable transfer partner because its redemption program is mileage-based. This means it offers tremendous value for direct, nonstop flights between two cities with one-way flights starting at just 8,000 Avios points per person. This is a great redemption option for Americans looking for low-cost award flights. For example, you can book an economy flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu on its partner, American Airlines, for just 13,000 Avios and $5.60 in taxes.
Turkish Airlines Smiles and Miles
- Home Country: Turkey
- Major hubs: Istanbul, Ankara
- Airline alliance: Star Alliance
Attractive redemptions with Turkish Airlines range from low-cost domestic flights on United to luxury flights to Europe and the Middle East with Turkish and its Star Alliance partners. Within the U.S., you can book domestic transcontinental flights on United using Turkish Airlines miles for as little as 10,000 miles each way. Or, you can also fly to the Middle East via Europe in Business Class for just 52,500 miles each way.
The least valuable Capital One transfer partners
While there are 18 Capital One Venture transfer partners to choose from, they're not all created equal. These two Capital One partners tend to offer lower value than many of the other choices available.
Choice Privileges Hotels
While Choice Privileges has a 1:1 transfer ratio with Capital One, a majority of its hotel locations are on the budget end of the spectrum. This contrasts with many travelers’ goals of redeeming their rewards for aspirational travel that they wouldn't normally spend money on.
However, savvy travelers can still find value with targeted transfers to Choice Privileges. In recent years, Choice has opened more Ascend and Cambria hotels geared towards upscale travelers. Plus, it’s partnered with AM Resorts to offer high-end, all-inclusive vacation destinations in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
ALL Accor Live Limitless
Accor is a fixed-value hotel redemption program, which eliminates the opportunity to receive outsized value for your points when booking an aspirational stay. When redeeming points to pay for your Accor stay, you'll receive a credit of 40 Euros for every 2,000 points that you redeem.
Meanwhile, for every 1,000 Capital One miles that you transfer to Accor, you'll receive 500 ALL points. This means that you'd need to transfer 20,000 Capital One miles to pay for a 200 Euro hotel stay (approximately $220 in U.S. dollars). With Capital One miles worth an average of 1.85 cents, you're giving up $370 in value for that 200 Euro stay.
How to transfer Capital One miles
Here’s the process for transferring Capital One miles:
- Log into CapitalOne.com.
- Select your eligible Capital One Venture miles credit card.
- Click on "Redeem."
- Select "Convert Rewards."
- Choose which airline or hotel loyalty program to transfer to.
- Click "Transfer Miles."
- If this is your first transfer with that partner, enter your airline or hotel loyalty member number.
- Enter the number of miles to transfer.
- Click "Complete Transfer."
When transferring Capital One miles to a partner loyalty program, the name on your credit card must match the name on your loyalty account. The minimum transfer is 1,000 miles and, in addition, you must transfer miles in increments of 1,000. For example, if you need 15,500 miles to book an award flight, you'll need to transfer 16,000 Capital One Miles to the partner airline.
All transfers will be final, and once you've initiated a transfer, it cannot be reversed. Rewards are transferred to your chosen loyalty program within 24 hours.
Why transfer to Capital One travel partners?
Capital One miles offer several redemption options, including travel, cash back, gift cards and more. Cardholders can book travel with no blackout dates by using their miles to pay through the Capital One Travel portal or by making travel purchases, then "erasing" the purchase with their miles in the form of statement credit once it posts to their account. However, your miles are only worth one cent each when booking this way.
To get the highest value for your Capital One miles, you should transfer your miles to one of the 18 Capital One airline partners or hotel loyalty programs available.
When you transfer your miles to one of these partners, you can book award travel that has a much higher value. Plus, all of the miles and points that you transfer are combined with the existing balances in your loyalty accounts, which makes it easier to earn enough rewards to book a flight or hotel room.
In many cases, booking a flight with a transfer partner will cost fewer miles than if you booked the flight through the Capital One Travel portal. This helps to stretch the value of your rewards.
Occasional transfer bonuses add even more value. These limited-time offers provide even more airline miles and hotel points when you transfer your Capital One miles into participating programs.
Capital One Travel vs. transfer partners
To illustrate the value of booking with one of the Capital One airline partners, we decided to compare a flight through the Capital One Travel portal versus using British Airways Avios. This one-way flight on Dec. 15, 2022, from Los Angeles to Honolulu is operated by American Airlines.
This flight is available for 13,000 British Airways Avios and $5.60. Since British Airways is a 1:1 transfer partner of Capital One, this flight would require transferring 13,000 Capital One miles to British Airways.
The exact same flight is available through Capital One Travel with a cash price of $210, or 20,950 Capital One miles. This cost in miles is more than 60% higher than if the miles were transferred to British Airways and the flight booked with Avios. Alternatively, if you paid cash for the flight with the [data-lightrail id="2240"]{name}[/data-lightrail], you'll earn miles on the purchase. You'll also earn American Airlines Loyalty Points for the flight if you pay for your flight with cash or Capital One miles, but you won't if you booked with Avios.
We were able to find a lower cash-priced option by flying Delta Air Lines. However, it was in Basic Economy, left at 12:50 a.m. and had a flight time of more than 17 hours. While it is always worthwhile to explore other flight options, in this case, the small savings is not worth it.
How to earn Capital One miles
If you're interested in earning Capital One miles, the bank offers several credit cards for personal and business use. How We Calculate Rewards: ValuePenguin calculates the value of rewards by estimating the dollar value of any points, miles or bonuses earned using the card less any associated annual fees. These estimates here are ValuePenguin's alone, not those of the card issuer, and have not been reviewed, approved or otherwise endorsed by the credit card issuer.
Example of how we calculate the rewards rates: When redeemed for travel through Ultimate Rewards, Chase Sapphire Preferred points are worth $0.0125 each. The card awards 2 points on travel and dining and 1 point on everything else. Therefore, we say the card has a 2.5% rewards rate on dining and travel (2 x $0.0125) and a 1.25% rewards rate on everything else (1 x $0.0125).
